Reassurance Calls

Make sure your loved ones are okay every day

After a fall or other emergency, 90% of people who get help within one hour will more than likely continue independent living, but after 12 hours without helpfooterfeatureimg3 only 10% of people return to their home.

For this reason alone it is important that a daily check is made on elderly seniors living alone, making sure they are up and about so that if they are not, appropriate action can be taken in a timely manner. To help with this TLC can make daily reassurance calls, which if unanswered, calls back a number of times (at predetermined intervals.) If the call is still unanswered, TLC then automatically calls a list of responders (usually neighbors, friends or paramedics) and asks them to make a physical check.

When answered, the daily call either speaks the text-based message or plays a recorded greeting including the time, date and day. (A familiar voice, a relative or friend can make the recording, and a variety of messages can be recorded and played at random, so that there is some daily variation.) The message can contain interactive choices; for example, ‘if you need help, press number 1, or if you would like to chat with me, press number 2’. The service makes the connection according to the number pressed. (It is worth noting that each requested connection can be made to ‘follow me’ across a series of linked telephone numbers, so that it can call a home number and, if not answered, a cell phone or office number and so on.)
